1935-2005

As the wind drops I stand mesmerized gazing at the sunset. I can hear the waves breaking gently on to the beach sprinkling me over with a whiff of sea.

Seagulls tingeing the sky above fly into the evermore-crimson horizon as my kite, struggling to sail above the dunes, begins its final descent towards the sand wavering and quivering with the last breeze of the day.

Sunning my face humid and salty I take a deep breath and close my eyes commanding time to stop as I capture the moment with all my senses. I can feel the world around me and became inexorably part of it.

My heart races and I shiver not of cold but of happiness for being in the same land which once saw him walk upon. His land...Ria Formosa.
